Upcoming Exhibition: The Scottish Colourist: J. D Fergusson at Pallant House Gallery

5 Jul–19 Oct 2014 at Pallant House Gallery, Chichester

Coming soon to Chichester’s Pallant House gallery is the first major retrospective of the most internationally renowned artist of the four Scottish Colourists collective, J.D Fergusson (1874-1961).

Most famous for his depictions of women, this exhibition explores the artist’s life work through the various chapters in his life; divided into themed rooms characterised by his various journeys such as ‘From Edinburgh to Paris’. Each theme shows the progression and development of Fergusson’s signature style which was at the forefront of the introduction of modern art into Britain.

This touring exhibition started at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh, and following its great success is now proudly being displayed at Pallant House Gallery from the 5th July – 19th October 2014. The exhibition will include paintings and sculptures from throughout his entire career including loans from major public and private collections. The exhibition will even see a significant series of Scottish Highland landscape paintings reunited and displayed together for the first time in 90years.

Willard Conservation Ltd is a proud sponsor of this not to be missed exhibition, especially for fans of great British modern art. Willard’s support ensures the development of a lively programme of exhibitions, and enables more people to have better access to the arts.
