Sustainabilty

Welcome to Sustainability at Willard.

Here, you can find out about Willard’s commitment to the production of responsibly sourced products in a workshop that is actively limiting its environmental impact through a number of strategic and measurable initiatives.

Planet Mark Certified

Through our Planet Mark certification, we are measuring and reducing our carbon footprint. Planet Mark is an internationally recognised sustainability certification for every type of organisation, including ours. A Planet Mark certification recognises continuous improvement, encourages action and builds an empowered community of like-minded individuals who make a world of difference.

In this crucial Decade of Action, we want to ensure that we are a force for good: positively transforming society and the planet by measuring our own impact on the environment.

Over the next year we will be working towards reducing our carbon emissions, and we want to share this journey with our community to encourage others to join us.

Through Planet Mark we are protecting an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Our pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.

Through our commitment to Planet Mark we are also helping the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.

Each and every one of you plays an important role in our sustainability commitments, and Planet Mark will help to embed sustainability in our business culture so that we can make continual progress.

SME Climate HUB

Willard are also pleased to have joined the The SME Climate Hub which aims to bring all businesses on board to net zero. Small to medium sized enterprises, like ourselves, account for 90% of businesses worldwide and affect the livelihoods of over 2 billion people. However, in the global effort to mitigate climate change, large businesses and governments have largely been the focus of the discussion.

The SME Climate Hub mobilises and supports small and medium sized businesses to commit to cut carbon emissions in half by 2030 and reach net zero emissions before 2050 — a milestone aimed at avoiding the worst effects of climate change while ensuring business viability.

Supporting Local Eco Systems

As well as looking at our environmental impact on an international level, our local ecosystem is something that is very much on our radar. This is why we have adopted a bee hive at SW Honey Farms in Chichester, just down the road from our workshops. The adoption will go towards one new colony of bees and increase the number of pollinators that help towards a well balanced ecosystem.

Solar Panel Powered Workshop

We are now all set to have 68 solar panels installed on our workshop in Chichester over the summer. The 68 panels are expected to generate approximately 36Kw! We shall keep you posted with percentages of our energy usage once they are up and and running.

Sustainable Production

Here at Willard, with quality engineering at the heart of our business, we have never made throw-away tools. Our tools and equipment are engineered in our Chichester workshops and have a proven reputation to last a whole career. And investing in tools that are likely to last your career is a sustainable choice indeed.

Our aftersales service is also on hand should your tool or piece of equipment need tweaking, servicing or refurbishment to give them even more years of use.

We also only use recycled or biodegradable materials in our packaging.

Stay tuned to this page and our blog for updates on our progress to becoming a net zero business.
