As we head into conference season, we would like to share the key events we have in our diary for the coming year! We work with many organisations and professional bodies to support the events they organise to further the collaboration of ideas and knowledge that push the conservation profession forward. 45th Annual CAC Conference and Workshops Where: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Dalhousie University When: May 28 – June 1, 2019
This year presentations and posters focus on all aspects of conservation relating to but not restricted to, artifacts, works of art, natural history specimens, archival materials, monuments, and conservation science. Papers with connections to the local and surrounding areas of Nova Scotia will also be included. Although the Nova Scotia province is one of the smallest in Canada, it boasts 5 UNESCO sites, 3 Word Heritage Sites, 13 National Historic sites attractions and 28 provincial museums and interpretive centres. The 37th annual Gerry Hedley Student Symposium Where: Winstanley Lecture Theatre, Trinity College, Cambridge. When: June 3rd 2019
A one-day symposium of talks featuring conservation, technical investigations, and art-historical research of paintings and artworks on paper by students and interns of the Hamilton Kerr Institute, the Courtauld Institute of Art and Northumbria University. Icon Conference 2019 “New Perspectives: Contemporary Conservation Thinking and Practice” Where: Belfast Waterfront, Belfast, Northern Ireland When: June 12th – 14th 2019
Icon’s Triennial International Conference – #Icon19 – is back! Taking place in Belfast, the conference provides a platform to engage with the latest developments in conservation of cultural heritage, exchange knowledge and find networking opportunities to support and promote professional standards of conservation across the UK! 2019 RBSCG Annual Study Conference, entitled Let’s Get Physical: Materiality in Special Collections Where: Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. When: September 4-6th 2019

XIVth International IADA Congress Where: Warsaw When: September 23-27th 2019
This congress will address the latest developments in the profession, which cover, but are not confined to, conservation decision-making, collection risk management, surveys, sharing positive and negative outcomes of scientific research and conservation projects, art technological studies (artist’s materials and techniques), ethical considerations in conservation as well as hands-on experiences. This congress offers a great opportunity to stay up-to-date in the field of book and paper conservation and to network with colleagues from around the world. IIC Student & Emerging Conservator Conference 2019 Where: Cologne Institute of Conservation Sciences (CICS) When: September 12-14th 2019
IIC’s Student & Emerging Conservator Conference biennial series, initiated in 2011, aims at providing a meeting platform for conservation students and recent graduates to discuss their professional goals, needs and expectations at the outset of their careers, to connect internationally and to inspire the development of plans with a broadened horizon. The conference’s title is “The Conservator’s Reflection”. This title is meant to be ambiguous – How do we see each other as conservation professionals?
